Thai Massage with Thea Davis

Thai massage traditionally takes place as you relax on a futon on the floor. You will be clothed, as you may be for an exercise class or a jog around the park. I will use the weight and leverage of my body, and resistance of yours to engage in compression, stretching and mobilisation techniques. This can improve circulation and assist in improving flexibility of muscles and joints, increasing your range and comfort of movement. Muscle responds well to a gentle increase of pressure, and with open communication we can establish a beneficial pressure for you.

As with other Eastern healing traditions Thai Massage is based on the philosophy of essential life force or energy; Thais sometimes refer to this as ‘Lom Pran’, other traditions as ‘Chi’, ‘Qi’ or ‘Prana’. During the massage, energy channels and points are stimulated to remove blockages or stagnation and balance the flow of life energy.
Although every part of the body that is worked is benefited, there are additional holistic benefits due to the relationship between the body’s systems, energy lines and acupressure points. The rhythm and flow of the massage promote relaxation and a sense of well being. In fact Thai Massage is synonymous with relaxation; which in its self has many therapeutic benefits.

A full body massage is from head to toe, or toe to head; depending on the training and influences of the practitioner, and how they feel it will best suit the client.
The completeness of this experience can bring awareness to the entire body and leave it feeling connected. I personally believe that there is something special about Thai Massage, in that the treatment nourishes not only the physical body but also the energetic and emotional aspects.

An initial session will be for 90 minutes and include a consultation; anything discussed will be totally confidential. This will help me to ascertain your medical history and enable me to plan the treatment effectively. I find it preferable to commence the consultation by phone or email.

A traditional full body massage takes 1.30 to 2 hrs. However, a localised treatment can be given in an hour. For example if you suffer from tension headaches or insomnia and wish only to have an hour massage I would concentrate on the upper body; a combination of back, arms, head, neck and face.

I am offering 60 minute sessions at £45, and 90 minute sessions at £60.
Special offer until the end of January for an initial session of 90 minutes for £45.

In general, Thai Massage is for everybody, but there are times and condition when it is not appropriate, or when certain techniques will need to be adapted or avoided. If you are booking a session for the first time, or just require further information, please contact me by phoning me on 07986 874013 or by email at thea@thesunflowercentre.co.uk
