Fully Equipped Pilates Studio

The Pilates Studio has fully qualified supervision/teaching available through various times in the week.

If you would like to be updated on times and days that are available for sessions, email us on studiopilates@thesunflowercentre.co.uk and we will put you on our studio mailing list.

The instructors offering sessions are David Canevaro, (who is also one of the Osteopaths at the Sunflower Centre), Sonia Forde, Ana Barretxeguran and Joanna Batten.

Complete Beginners                                                                                                   If you have never done Pilates of any kind before, you will need to first do three introductory sessions.  These are one hour one to one classes.  They will allow you to go on to either join a group class, or else you could continue on a one to one basis.

Pilates for rehabilitation                                                                                   "Pilates, an exercise regimen first developed fo rehabilitation in the early 20th century, has become a powerful rehabilitation tool for those people wishing to work through physical injuries, who may need assistance to improve their function after operations or for those with chronic pain.  It is also highly suitable for developing and maintaining fitness, strength and mobility.  It focuses on movement and breathing; the Pilates principle of core stabilisation addresses postural muscle strength and control, and as such is similar to most orthopaedic rehabilitation and therapy.

Some specific conditions and problems that can be successfully treated include: chronic neck and back pain, sciatica, shoulder impingement or tendonitis, hip bursitis, ankle injuries, total knee/hip replacements, scoliosis, multiple sclerosis and fibromyalgia."
