Yoga for Young People (aged 11-18)
Yoga is a really valuable life skill, it can provide a set of tools that helps people to enjoy life more, so why not start young? Being a young person in the modern world is full of stimulation and excitement but it can be also be challenging and exhausting and yoga can be a sanctuary from all of that.
Classes are fun, revitalising and relaxing. Young people have a chance to learn about their bodies and the importance of strength, flexibility and relaxation. Activities include practising the basic yoga asanas (poses), breathing exercises to calm the mind, relaxation techniques to cope with stress and anxiety and some yoga philosophy to offer an alternative perspective on some of the bigger questions about life.
Yoga helps young people to:
support their growing bodies to be strong, flexible and healthy
cope better with stress and anxiety
learn how to relax and get a good night’s sleep
cultivate a healthy relationship with themselves and their bodies
learn basic anatomy and physiology experientially
cultivate a healthy relationship with others and the world around them
