Young Persons Meditation Workshop
Sarah Thompson is a qualified teacher with 12 years experience of teaching relaxation strategies and techniques to both adults and children.
Adolescence is a tricky period to negotiate; teenagers deal with the stress of their body changing, raging hormones and self-esteem issues (which are now exacerbated by social media). In the middle of all this, we expect them to take their exams!
Mental Health issues for young people are at an all time high and Mindfulness has been proven to enhance wellbeing; “Paying more attention to the present moment – to your own thoughts and feelings, and to the world around you – can improve your mental wellbeing.” www.NHS.uk
This 90 minute session which will provide a safe space for participants to ‘check in’ and say as much, or as little about how they’re feeling. We will explore the many Mindfulness techniques such as; ‘breath awareness’, ‘body scans’, positive affirmations and of course ‘mindful eating’.
Participants will learn how to understand the way our bodies react to stress and how we can learn to control our own state through mindfulness. We will end each session on a deeply relaxing guided visualisation, designed to activate the parasympathetic nervous system and leave you floating on a cloud!
All equipment and resources will be provided. Just dress comfortably and come with an open mind! Participants will be encouraged to continue their practice and given an information sheet to take away.
